We all know that after Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday kick off the holiday shopping season, but #GivingTuesday is when we really get into the spirit of generosity. At CE, we strive every day to give back. To celebrate National Day of Giving, we’d like to showcase just a few of the charitable efforts that CE has made this year.
After Hurricane Harvey caused massive flooding in Texas, CE sales centers in the Northeast collected used tools, gear and workwear and shipped them to fellow contractors in affected areas. CE sales centers in Southern Texas are also partnering with Habitat for Humanity to rebuild 176 homes that were completely flooded during the hurricane. According to CE Vice President Curt Fisher, here are the services being donated toward this project:
- Providing Carrier equipment at discounted rates
- Partnering with CFAD Fresh Air to offer discounted installations of Carrier products
- Working with Carrier on a $100K donation to support restoration efforts in other homes in the area via Habitat for Humanity Repair services
“We are planning to have a CE Employee Volunteer Build Day once the project is underway,” said Lissa Contreras, Marketing Manager.
In early October, Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, with 100% of the territory losing power and leaving many areas in ruins. Ten CE families lost everything during the storm and subsequent flooding. Carrier Puerto Rico kicked off a GoFundMe campaign to help them rebuild with a $5,000 donation. They have now raised over $31,000 to support our CE families in need.
CE employees in Orlando, FL are participating in the area’s annual Basket Brigade. Participants fill laundry baskets with all of the supplies needed for a Thanksgiving feast, which are then delivered to local families in need. “It’s a great cause in this season of giving!” said Cathy Kriner, Holiday Committee Member.
On National Day of Giving, we recognize that every effort helps, no matter how small. CE encourages everyone to find a way to make a difference today!
