DaVita is a nationwide, Fortune 500® company, that provides personalized care and dialysis treatments to patients battling end stage renal disease and chronic kidney failure. Due to the type of treatments they perform, their patients are usually in the facility for at least four hours per visit. Since patient comfort is one of their top priorities, the Ft. Myers location turned to Carrier Enterprise for assistance and were introduced to the technology of Toshiba-Carrier VRF systems and the expertise of the CE staff to ensure their patients stay comfortable during their time at the DaVita facility.
The Problem: Heat and Moisture
Because of the lifesaving operations that DaVita dialysis centers perform, heat producing machines are constantly running, producing high internal space temperatures. Additionally, the centers have complex water treatment equipment inside their buildings, which produce high amounts of humidity. High temperatures and elevated humidity levels within spaces require HVAC equipment that can specifically address and handle these two comfort-cooling requirements. Therefore, when mechanical contractor, TWC of Ft. Myers, was approached by the DaVita dialysis center, they instantly knew Toshiba-Carrier VRF would be the solution the clinic needed.
The Solution: Toshiba-Carrier VRF
For the DaVita dialysis center in Ft. Myers, Carrier Enterprise provided a 10-ton VRF system that augmented the existing HVAC system. TWC knew that the Toshiba-Carrier VRF system was ideal for a DaVita dialysis center because it could easily be installed into the existing building and could meet the temperature and humidity requirements that existed in the facility without a major renovation. The system could be installed near the existing ductwork for additional heating/cooling and humidity control of the medical equipment while still keeping the lobby at a comfortable temperature for family members and other patients.

By implementing a Toshiba-Carrier VRF system into the Ft. Myers location, DaVita took another step in making their patients’ comfort a top priority in the care they deliver—for this and the tremendous overall care and service they provide, the patients are forever grateful.
