Case Study: Onella Condos in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

A new exclusive beachfront condo facility just sold out in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. As the ultimate escape or permanent residence for those in retirement or anyone looking to discover a one-of-a-kind living experience of Indian Rocks Beach, Onella Condos offers high-end, luxurious, expansive condominiums. When choosing HVAC systems for this highly sought-after property, the condos opted for the versatility and efficiency of VRF heat recovery systems.

About the Onella Condos

The Onella Condos are a premier living destination for those looking for either a permanent retirement home or an annual winter escape. The beautiful beachfront property offers stunning views, and is loaded with luxurious amenities. Within the five-story property there are only 10 incredible units. Eight of them are 3,600 square feet and two are penthouse suites that offer 4,284 square feet of exceptional living quarters.

The Goal: Superior Flexibility and Individual Controls

When the Onella Condos were undergoing development, it was important that the HVAC systems exceed the expectations of the clientele that would be living in such an exclusive property. The systems had to provide the very best energy efficiency, they needed to allow tenants to heat and cool different spaces simultaneously, and finally, the systems needed to be sleek and simple.

The Solution: Carrier VRF Heat Recovery Systems

When presented with the design and scope of the job, the CE team in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, knew that the Carrier VRF heat recovery units could easily meet all of the property’s requests. The team knew that the systems would allow the tenants to easily control their own temperature via customized control panels, and would provide a clean layout on the rooftop of the facility.

In total, two heat recovery units were installed in each home, specifically, eight smaller condos were equipped with 6-Ton, Single-Phase Heat Recovery units, while the two penthouse suites are served by 12 Ton, Single-Phase Heat Recovery units. Each tenant’s energy usage is metered to the unit for full autonomy, and each control unit is completely customizable. It is able to integrate with home automation systems and can be connected to Wi-Fi.

The Results: Thrilled Residents and Owners

With the VRF heat recovery systems in place, and tenants are beginning to move in, it is safe to say that the VRF systems have exceeded all expectations. The smart controls and energy efficiency were a powerful selling point when marketing the condos, and all 10 units were sold successfully. The residents love how they can heat and cool at the same time, and they are thrilled with the efficiency of systems. In fact, the developers are so pleased with the systems performance, they have begun a second project for 2019 and plan to integrate the same VRF systems.
